April 25 - 27, Nike will be hosting a Women's Half Marathon and Expotique, at Washington Harbor in Georgetown. The event will spill over to adjacent Thomas Jefferson street on Saturday, April 27, the main day. 45,000 participants are expected to pack Washington Harbor this week.

A good friend from college is from Petersburg, Alaska, a lovely town of about 4,000 on Mitkof Island, in southeast Alaska, that I visited a few summers ago. Planit Meetings cannot get you hotel accommodations in Petersburg, but we can help you get a good B & B on Mitkof Island. Because of all the rain -- Petersburg is in a rain forest -- most roofs are (red) tin. To get to Mitkof Island, you can take a ferry from the Alaska Marine Highway System (http://www.dot.state.ak.us/amhs/index.shtml), highly recommended, or fly in from Juneau.
